Xinyi is an experienced practitioner psychologist specialising in Developmental Psychology, Attachment Therapy, self-identity and Crisis Management. A psychologist with a special interest in working with youth and families who struggle with social, emotional or behavioural challenges, Xinyi is adept in addressing her clients’ emotional dysregulation, equipping families with positive interactional strategies, and guiding individuals in enhancing their personal and professional potential.

With 10 years of professional practice, her areas of expertise include:

  • Providing psychological assessments and therapy to individuals, couples, families and groups to address a variety of emotional and behavioural challenges including anxiety, anger, self-identity, and relationship issues. Xinyi is also adept in addressing self-injurious and suicidal behaviours, attachment disorders, emotional functioning, and trauma.
  • Extensive experience in developing and delivering customised, targeted workshops to both multi- national corporations, and to representatives from the government and community sectors, both in Singapore and abroad.
  • Working with a wide range of clientele ranging from children, adolescents, adults, couples, to families from local and expat communities to provide forensic assessments in offending behaviours, psychological and emotional functioning assessments, trauma, parenting capacity, custody related disputes and access arrangements related to child welfare concerns and juvenile justice involvement.
  • Heading a unit that provided assessment and therapy for individuals and families with child protection concerns, and juvenile and adult justice involvement, during her service as a Senior Psychologist in the Ministry of Social and Family Development (MSF).
  • Providing crisis intervention in her capacity as a Caring Actions in Response to Emergencies (CARE) officer. Xinyi was Deputy Head CARE of the Ministry of Social and Family Development (MSF), and oversaw operational deployment, training of new officers, and provision of crisis support to Singapore citizens and their next-of- kin involved in critical incidents locally and internationally.
